Spreading The Word
As the English Chaplain at Pyeongtaek University and an ordained Minister, I frequently need to prepare and present sermons.
These are those. A collection of thoughts, sermons and presentations.

PTU Weekly Bible Series
This semester, we will be looking at the Bible from a Legal point of view.
By that I mean we will look at the original languages of the Old and New Testaments, which were the inspired Word of God.
The Old Testament (Covenant) consists of 39 Books, which were originally written in Hebrew and Aramaic and then ultimately translated into Greek, known as The Greek Septuagint Version of the Bible, of which Jesus, His Disciples and Apostles, quoted from in the New Testament.
The New Testament (Covenant) consists of 27 Books, which were originally written in Greek. Greek is probably the most precise language known to mankind and it is very specific. Most Protestant Bibles consist of a Masoretic Hebrew Text Old Testament and a Greek New Testament. The two do NOT correspond one to another. However, the Greek New Testament DOES match with the Greek Septuagint, to the point that there is direct quoting from each text.
We will be using that as our base.
PART 1: September 10, 2024
THE TORAH,
THE HISTORICAL BOOKS
& THE POETICAL BOOKS
Unpacking the first five Books of the Old Testament also known as the Torah, from Genesis to the Song of Songs
PART 2: September 24, 2024
THE MAJOR PROPHETS
Today, we are going to talk about Bible Prophecy, which makes up over one third of the Bible, as it relates to the Prophetical Books of the Bible.
YAHWEH sent 16 different prophets to both the House of Israel and the House of Judah. These 16 prophets can be assigned to different periods in Israel’s history.
The pre-Assyrian prophets who prophesied to the House of Israel were Joel, Jonah, Amos, Hosea, Isaiah, and Micah.
The pre-Babylonian prophets who prophesied to the House of Judah were Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Obadiah, Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah.
The prophets who preached to the Restored Nation of Judah were Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
Today we will cover the four Major Prophets of Isaiah, Jeremiah and Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel, which are only called “Major” because of the long length of these Books.
PART 3: October 29, 2024
THE MINOR PROPHETS
Following on from our introduction to the Major Prophets, today we unpack the 12 Minor Prophets of Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Johan, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
PART 4: NOVEMBER 5, 2024
THE INTER-TESTAMENTAL PERIOD
Most Pastors and Christians ignore the 400+ years between the Old Testament/Covenant and the New Testament/Covenant, and refer to them as the “Silent Years,” for the simple reason that Father YAHWEH did not say anything during this time period. But that is not TRUE!
PART 5: NOVEMBER 12, 2024
THE FOUR GOSPELS AND THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES
The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, along with The Acts of The Apostles represent The Spiritual Pentateuch of the New Testament.
It is not for you to know times and seasons which the Father hath reserved in His own disposal. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit is come upon you; and you shall be witnesses for Me in (1) Jerusalem and (2) in all Judaea, and (3) Samaria, and (4) to the remotest part of the earth.” And the Apostles/Disciples did just that.
PART 6: NOVEMBER 19, 2024
THE GENERAL EPISTLES
The General Epistles of James, First and Second Peter, First, Second and Third John, and Jude
Why am I not dealing with the Pauline Epistles first? Well, remember what Jesus said in Acts 1:6 through 8.
In nearly every version or translation of the New Testament, the General Epistles are found after the Book of Hebrews and before the Book of The Revelation of Jesus Christ. But that was not the original placement of the seven General Epistles.
In its original canonization by the Apostles of Jesus Christ – Paul, Peter, and John – the General Epistles were placed immediately after the Book of The Acts of the Apostles and before the Epistle to the Romans. That is the proper order of the Books in the New Testament, as “inspired” by God the Father and Jesus Christ. To this day, the Byzantine Text of the New Testament retains the correct order of the books.
PART 7: NOVEMBER 26, 2024
THE PAULINE EPISTLES – PART 1
Unpacking the life of Paul – and the first five of Paul’s fourteen Epistles: The books of Thessalonians, Corinthians, and Galations.
Paul and Barnabas with great freedom of speech said, It is necessary that the Word of God should be first spoken to you. But since you reject It, and judge yourselves unworthy of this everlasting life, behold we turn to the Gentiles; for thus the Lord hath commanded us, ‘I have set thee for the light of nations, that thou mayst be for salvation to the remotest parts of the earth.’”
And they obeyed the Words of Jesus Christ as according to Acts 1:8. NOW, they were going to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom to the remotest parts of the (Roman) earth.
PART 8: DECEMBER 2, 2024
THE PAULINE EPISTLES – PART 2
Romans, Colossians, Ephesians, and Philippians
Unpacking Paul’s Epistle to the Romans, written during his Second Missionary Journey, as well as his Epistles to the Colossians, the Ephesians, and the Philippians, written while Paul was in prison for the first time in Rome from 61 to 63 A.D.
The Epistle to the Hebrews will be dealt with separately, as will Paul’s Pastoral Epistles to Philemon, Timothy and Titus
